LETTERS FROM JONI LAMB – MAY 2018

Painting with Purpose

Over the years, I’ve come to think of motherhood as an opportunity to create a work of art. With each brushstroke, carefully guided by the Holy Spirit, I’ve made it my mission to paint the truth of God’s love on the canvas of my children’s hearts.

In Proverbs 22:6, it says, “Point your kids in the right direction—when they’re old they won’t be lost.” That’s a powerful promise for every parent!

The many movements of your brush may not be perfect, but they can always point to the One who is. Even our mistakes can provide teachable moments for our kids that success could never inspire. Don’t let past failures discourage you from speaking life over their destiny!

Today, my children are all adults and I have the blessing of a beautiful relationship with each one. They are uniquely gifted, and their love for the Lord brings joy to my heart as I see them pursuing Him with passion.

Through many seasons of life, I continued to paint with purpose. Not knowing how the end result would look, I trusted that if the Word of God remained my source, the picture would always reflect His grace, goodness, and mercy.

Looking at their lives now, I see it. The brushstrokes on each one tell a story of faith. They form an intricate map showing me where they’ve been and where they’re going. Not every path they’ve taken has led to peace, but I’m thankful to God that painting with His love and pointing them to Jesus means they’ll never be lost.
